The "Lighting the Way Home" Gala, to benefit the Laura Recovery Center - for missing children that was to be held October 2nd at Space Center Houston, has been canceled. We regret to have to cancel our major fundraiser of the year, but it is clear that our community is still feeling the effects of Hurricane IKE and the economic down turn.

The Center remains very busy working for missing children through education, search and prevention. In addition, through an agreement with the Galveston County Office of Emergency Management, the Center has become the regional call center for missing persons in the event of emergencies and disasters.

We are most appreciative of the items that have been donated for auction at the Gala - these items will be auctioned at an event next year.

Please do not view this cancellation as an indication we are not in need of your support! Nothing could be further from the truth. The Center is totally supported by the community, and we need your support to continue our mission for missing children. Please consider making a donation.
