Jessica Cain 15 Year Vigil - August 18th, 2012

A candlelight vigil is being planned by friends of Jessica Cain for the15 Year Flyer15 Year Flyer
15th anniversary of Jessica’s disappearance. On Saturday, August 18th, a
gathering and candlelight vigil will be held at Highland Bayou Park in
La Marque from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The purpose of this event is not only to
keep alive Jessica’s wonderful spirit, but also to honor her, and remind
everyone that our friend is still missing. We invite you to join us at
6:00 where we will have light refreshments, with a candlelight vigil to
begin at approximately 8:00.

The planning committee has developed what we believe will be a fitting
tribute to Jessica’s spirit – a serene lakeside corner at Highland Bayou
Park, a perfect spot for a relaxing sunset or some good fishing. This
area will include a bench overlooking the water, with a Red Oak tree
planted behind it, commemorated with an engraved plaque. This scenic
space will give us and Jessica’s family a peaceful location to gather,
whether alone or with friends, to reflect and to remember our friend.

In order to create this ideal scene, we anticipate the cost to be
approximately $2,500-3,000. This includes the bench, tree, soil,
landscaping rocks, flagstone, bronze engraved plaque and other
materials. We understand that this figure may sound daunting, but we
truly believe in our hearts that this can be done. If everyone who was
touched by Jessica’s smile, spirit, story, or some random act of her
kindness donated even $20, we would have enough money to beautify the
entire park.

We are asking at this time for your help — if you are able to make a
donation that will help us reach our goal, it would be greatly
appreciated. Not only will this area provide a tranquil retreat for her
friends and family, but it also allows us to help beautify Highland
Bayou Park in her name, in a way that exemplifies her love of nature.
Each donor will be acknowledged in a program to be distributed the
evening of the vigil, as well as in the Galveston Daily News. Any amount
raised over the necessary amount will be secured in an account for
future improvements to the area. Her friends and family would be
thrilled to continue adding to this location for years to come.

You may donate online or contact Michelle Profitt to donate by check. If
you would like your donation to be in someone’s memory or honor, please
include that information with your donation. We appreciate any and all
support that you are able to give at this time, and we hope you
understand the significance of your contribution.

Our sincerest thanks,
Friends of Jessica Cain
